Gobert is coming off a season in which he averaged 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks while helping the Wolves to the Western Conference Finals.

Gobert also took home his fourth Kia Defensive Player of the Year Award, tying him with Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace for most in NBA history.

Gobert is a four-time All-NBA Team member, seven-time All-Defensive First Team member and three-time All-Star.

According to Charania, the deal will give the Timberwolves financial flexibility to continue adding to their young core that features superstar Anthony Edwards as their centerpiece after they dealt Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a future first-round pick.
