Nets’ Kyrie Irving to rest shoulder Saturday vs. Mavs

Kyrie Irving is averaging 27.4 points in 24 games this season.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets have ruled Kyrie Irving out of their game Saturday night (8:30 ET, on ABC) to rest his right shoulder, leaving them without two of their three superstars against Dallas.

The Nets had already said that Kevin Durant would remain sidelined through the All-Star break because of a hamstring injury that will cause him to miss his seventh straight game Saturday.

Brooklyn hasn’t missed him largely because of the strong play of Irving and James Harden, winning eight in a row. But it’s meant a heavier workload for Irving, who was limited to 20 games last season because of a shoulder injury that required surgery.

Irving is averaging 27.4 points in 24 games.
