You have lineup questions, we have lineup answers — at least we hope so. Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is here to help fantasy managers make difficult roster decisions. And you know what is a good move? Starting CeeDee Lamb. But that’s too obvious, so you won’t see such simple analysis here. Instead, we’re exploring more debatable situations. And if you can’t find a player you are looking for, please check out the latest NFL Fantasy lineup rankings. Unless otherwise noted, all stats come from NFL Pro, Next Gen Stats or NFL Research.
Start ‘Em
Grupe fell back to earth a bit in Week 2, scoring just eight fantasy points after his huge 21-point performance in Week 1. Still, high double-digits looks like a safe floor for a kicker with very high upside. He is a reliable option tied to the highest-scoring offense in the league so far, and this particular game could be a shootout. That’s enough to start him.
Carlson is a great real-life kicker. His issue in fantasy is that his offense doesn’t always provide him ample opportunity to score points. That should not be a concern this week. Teams have moved the ball at will against the Panthers this season. Carlson can be started in Week 3.
The always-reliable McPherson exploded for 15 fantasy points in Week 2. He is tied to a good offense, which automatically increases his chances for those spike weeks. Plus, this is a game where Cincinnati should be able to move the ball into field goal range with no trouble. He is a strong start.
Dicker the Kicker has scored 12 and eight fantasy points in the first two weeks. He is reliable, tied to an offense that’s effectively moving the ball and has a conservative head coach in Jim Harbaugh who might take the three-point play more often than others. He’s certainly in play against the Steelers in what could become a battle of field goals.
Prater is underrated both in fantasy and real life. So far this season, he has scored eight and 13 fantasy points. His offense has been able to consistently move the ball. And this could be a week where they get into field goal range but stall out against Dan Campbell’s defense. It also has the potential to be a high-scoring affair. Either way, Prater is in play this week.
Sit ‘Em
Slye has been a safe option the first two weeks. But I don’t trust the Patriots offense against the Jets. The floor is incredibly low in this one and the (lack of) upside does not justify the risk. Get away in what could be a defensive battle.
Zuerlein has scored seven fantasy points. No, not last week. In total this season. There just has not been enough production to trust. Especially in what could be an ugly, low-scoring Thursday night game against a division rival.
Sanders tends to get way more chances at extra points than field goals. But now without Tua Tagovailoa playing, there are concerns about this offense. Perhaps they move the ball and stall out in field goal range, but I want to see whether they can even reach opposing territory consistently before trusting the kicker in fantasy.
Folk has been held to just five points in each of the Titans’ first two games. His offense has not moved the ball consistently enough to give him chances at playable fantasy production. Play a different kicker this week.
Bass has been effective for fantasy managers, posting 10 and seven fantasy points in the first two weeks. But while he brings a safe floor, the spike weeks have not been there since last season. The Bills are often aggressive on fourth down and their drives often end in a touchdown or a turnover. Bass is a fringe starting option and he can be sat this week.
