Since starters around the league are likely only playing the 1st half this week, I am going to keep most of my bets in the first two quarters. This one I’m just sweating for the opening 15 minutes, and I am hoping the Lions win the toss.
The Chiefs defense is very good this year, and despite this being a preseason affair, the Lions came into Arrowhead and beat Kansas City to open last season. The starters are only out there for the first half today, but I’m sure they come very hungry. The Lions offense is very good, but their defense certainly struggles. I 100% see Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs marching down field on their first possession for 7 points.
Well then why are you taking the under? Because I have faith in the Chief’s defense. Personally, I would come out and make a defensive statement as soon as I could if I were Spags and the Chiefs D, especially after losing to this team last year. Again, it’s preseason, but everyone will be giving their all with their time on the field, and I could see Goff struggling to move the ball early. This is a get in and get out bet, but I see us cashing when the 1st quarter ends 7-0 Chiefs.
Minnesota Vikings vs Cleveland Browns Best Bets

We are getting the best line on the market here, and I see this offenses struggling early in this one. First and foremost, JJ McCarthy is done for the year, and Jordan Addison won’t play today. Two of Minnesota’s biggest weapons gone, and facing a tough Cleveland Defense.
As for Cleveland, they only put up 10 points against Green Bay last week and are still missing plenty of offensive pieces do to injury. Although we will see the starters, I do think these offenses are depleted enough to make it easier on the defensive side of the ball for both teams. I expect just 1 touchdown combined in the 1st half, but I could certainly see this number pushing as well. For (-115) odds, I’ll take a stab that this game has a boring first couple quarters.
Washington Commanders vs Miami Dolphins Best Bets
Can Tua and the Dolphins jump out early in the first half?

Plenty of push potential here as I think the Dolphins comes out very explosive. We know exactly what they are capable of, but I also think their defense has made major improvements this offseason. Signing Jordan Poyer from their division rival certainly boosts a secondary that already boasts Jalen Ramsey, and Calais Campbell will help guys like Bradley Chubb stop the run and get to the QB.
The Commanders played a tough Jets defense last week, and it doesn’t get much easier tonight. I see the Dolphins using their weapons early to put some points on the board before giving the starters a rest. I am not high on the Commanders defense at all and see them struggling to cover the quickness of these Miami weapons. This one could get out of hand early in my eyes.
