Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr., who suffered an injury to his left knee December 20 at Charlotte, was examined prior to Sunday night’s game by team physician Dr. David McAllister of UCLA Health. The diagnosis is a bone bruise, and Nance Jr. is expected to be out approximately four weeks.
Nance Jr. limped off the court holding his knee last Tuesday after scrambling for a loose ball, and he left the arena with the help of crutches.
The second-year player is no stranger to knee injuries, as he suffered a torn knee ligament in college — but that was in his right knee.
The injury is a tough break for Nance Jr., who serves a pivotal role off the bench for the Lakers. In 27 games this season, he is averaging 6.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 22.5 minutes per game.
