We head to Connecticut for Game 3 between the Sun and Lynx. Minnesota won Game 2 by 7 points on Tuesday night and Connecticut pulled off the win by 4 points in Game 1 Sunday. Both of these games were battles and I don’t expect it to lighten up.
Losing a game at home was big for the Lynx and they’ll need to steal 1 in Connecticut. This team was 30-10 this season and 14-6 on the road, so they can win games away from home. Despite the recent loss, the Lynx are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
Both of these teams are defense 1st, and the game results are showing that. Napheesa Collier took on an all-around game in Game 2, recording only 9 points, but had 12 rebounds and 5 assists. She had totaled 99 points in the 3 games prior.
From a scoring end, it was a team effort. Alanna Smith, Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride all put-up double-digit point totals. Smith had 15 points that included 3 made 3-pointers and 6 rebounds. It’ll be up to Collier to decide what kind of role she wants to play tonight in game 3.
Connecticut will look to take series lead on home court
Lynx forward Napheesa Collier is swarmed by Sun defenders while trying to keep possession.
The Sun have been battling this series. Each game has been close, but they let the last game slip away. It would’ve been crippling to the Lynx if they were able to take both games in Minnesota.
Alyssa Thomas is playing physical basketball. She’s battled for 17+ points and 10 rebounds in each game of this series. Thomas has been a focal point of this team for years now, along with her partner DeWanna Bonner. Bonner has 17 points in Game 2 and a double double in Game 1.
Marina Mabrey, who came over before the break from the Sky, has fit in nicely. She’s had 15+ points in all 4 games she’s played these playoffs, including making 6 3-pointers in Game 1 of this series.
Their defense has been keeping this team in games and the same goes for the Lynx. If one of these teams can get hot on offense, the other team will struggle, but both games have been defense first. Connecticut will look to get the job done at home tonight, where they were 14-6 this season.

With such a short line, I was kind of torn and then realize – we have to go with the home team here. We’re going to take the spread as I think the Sun get the job tonight and send a message for Game 4.
I really like this Lynx team, but I don’t think they get the win tonight and 2 points is too short for my liking. Alyssa Thomas should be on Triple Double watch as she has yet to record one but has been extremely close every game these playoffs. The current odds are +360.
Another play I like for this game is the under 150.5 total. Both games have stayed just under this number, and I’m surprised the line isn’t a little lower. We should see another tight game between these 2 teams with a close score.
I do like Alanna Smith to grab 6 rebounds priced at -142. It’s a little juicy, but she has hit this number in both games this series. She is Collier’s other help down low, and I think we see her with plenty of action tonight to grab those 6 for us.
