Cleveland Browns vs Washington Commanders: NFL Predictions, Odds & Best Bets (10/6)

Two teams trending in opposite directions are facing off this Sunday, as the Washington Commanders host the Cleveland Browns. The Commanders may be one of the most surprising teams this NFL season. They drafted rookie QB Jayden Daniels 2nd overall, and he has panned out perfectly. After trading Jahan Dotson right before the start of the season, people thought Washington might be throwing in the towel early. Nevertheless, Daniels has this team 3-1 to start the year and are showing no signs of slowing down.

After losing in Tampa Bay in Week 1, Washington has won 3 straight games, beating the Giants at home, then the Bengals and Cardinals on the road. The Commanders have scored 40 points per game in their last 2 weeks, and now they are back at home facing a Browns team that does not have much to be excited about.

Cleveland is 1-3 this year, somehow beating Jacksonville down in Florida in Week 2. The Browns looked lifeless against the Cowboys, were embarrassed by the Giants, and then beaten by the Raiders in Sin City last week. Nick Chubb is off of the IR, but will likely miss playing this week to rest. With the Browns trending down, and the Commanders trending up, surely this game will go just as we expect it to!

Let’s dive into our best bets for this matchup.

Will Browns Be Able to Slow Down Daniels?

Can Myles Garrett slow down Jayden Daniels offensively?

The problem with Jayden Daniels is containing him. The man is averaging 50+ yards on the ground per game, along with nearly 225 through the air. He’s completing over 82% of his passes this season, and over 88.6% over the past two weeks. The guy has proven to be a serious problem for defenses, and with the way the Browns are playing, Daniels could tear them apart.

Offensively, the Browns don’t have much going for them. Deshaun Watson is hot garbage, Nick Chubb is still hurt, and the Jerry Jeudy/Amari Cooper wideout tandem isn’t working out. They have yet to score more than 2 TDs in a game this season, and the Commanders are looking solid on both sides of the ball. Washington has won two very tough games on the road, in Cincinnati and in Arizona. While the Bengals look like a shell of themselves, they still have tons of weapons. The Cardinals looked like a capable football team for a few weeks, but Washington brought them back down to Earth.

I see the Browns having little to no success on offense. Watson hasn’t thrown for 200 yards in a game yet this season, Ford is not getting it done on the ground, and with Njoku injured as well, things are very grim. This is the 2nd straight road game for an already struggling team, and I think they have more issues down in Maryland. I lean heavily with the Commanders, and am more than willing to back them to win by more than a field goal.

Cleveland Browns vs Washington Commanders Best Bets

Can the Commanders beat the Browns at home this Sunday?

Browns vs Commanders Prediction: Commanders Win & Cover, Under 43.5

Best Bet: Commanders -3 (-115) Bovada

How can you not root for this kid? What he’s doing in Washington is very exciting, and I’ve got to hand it to Dan Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury. They are doing a fantastic job of helping this guy, supporting him where he needs it, and ultimately, setting him up to be success in the Commanders franchise. They’ve found their guy, so let’s give it everything we’ve got.

The Commanders show no signs of slowing down, and while they may be looking ahead to a tough matchup against Baltimore, I believe they come ready to play and cover this spread. Even when Daniels doesn’t find the end zone, he puts his team in a position to get points. They had 7 field goals against the Giants, whom they beat by 3 points, and never punted the ball. Daniels doesn’t need to find the end zone every time he touches the ball, but getting deep into their opponent’s territory can be just as destructive.

Give me Washington to roll at home against the walking corpse that is the Cleveland Browns.
