Rosas took on veteran Qileng Aori in the first preliminary fight at UFC 306 on Sept 14 at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The 19-year-old went on to earn a unanimous decision over Aori in what was seen as a lukewarm affair.

However, fans were surprised to see Rosas ask for a bonus for his performance in his post-fight Octagon interview. “El Nino Problema” has since explained his bizarre call for a bonus at UFC 306. To begin with, Rosas admits that he called for a bonus in heat of the moment out of habit, having earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses for all three of his previous UFC wins.

While Rosas admits that he didn’t deserve a bonus for his win over “Mongolian Murderer,” the Mexican prospect had some reasoning to justify getting one. Rosas takes the credit for attracting fans early on in the card.

“It was just the heat of the moment,” Rosas recently told MMAFighting.com. “Since I’m used to getting finishes and asking for it after, it just came out. But either way, my argument to say that I would deserve, don’t get me wrong, there was a unanimous decision so obviously I’m okay with not getting it because I should have got a finish. But if I would have got it, my argument would be the people showed up because of me. The event was packed because of me. I’m saying they were there early because I was on the prelims. I’m not trying to be cocky, but a lot of people tune in to watch me fight. With them putting me on the first fight on the prelims, I made a lot of people show up and tune in on their TV’s right away. That would have been my argument for the [$50,000] but obviously I agreed, I didn’t do enough to get those .”

Rosas is currently 4-1 in the UFC with three finishes and a unanimous decision loss against Christian Rodriguez.
