WNBA Rookie of the Year Predictions and Odds | July 26, 2024

This year’s rookie class has really given the league new life. Drafted this year were players Caitlin Clark (Iowa), Angel Reese (LSU) and Cameron Brink (Stanford). All 3 had high expectations coming into their 1st seasons.

Unfortunately, Brink went down early in the season to an ACL tear. Brink was averaging 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in 15 games started. She was just getting started, but we wish her a quick recovery and to be back next year.

After her, this really comes down to 2 ladies who have been just killing it. Indiana’s Caitlin Clark has taken the league by storm and has been living up to the hype. Chicago’s Angel Reese is the other contender and if she wasn’t putting up the numbers she’s been, this wouldn’t even be a conversation.

Below are the odds for the Rookie of the Year and there’s not much to it. Let’s check them out and get into each of the 2 players.

  • Caitlin Clark -2000
  • Angel Reese +700

Clark will look to continue to stay as the front runner

Rookie of the Year Prediction #1: Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (-2000) Get 50% up to $750 Deposit on BETUS for this pick

Clark has a huge lead in this race, but there are plenty of reasons why. She is leading this team as a rookie and has them sitting in a playoff spot with a 11-15, which is 3rd best in the Eastern Conference.

On the season so far, she is averaging 17.1 points, 8.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game. She leads the team in points and assists per game which is insane for a rookie.

She has also set some serious records this year. Clark became the 1st Rookie in league history to record Triple Double and also set a new league record for most assists in one game with 19.

Caitlin got a lot of slack coming into this season. All eyes were already on her, but it seemed like they were also on her from within the league. She received some rough treatment in the beginning, but never faltered.

The Fever started the year losing their first 5 games of the season. Clark caught a lot of heat for turning the ball over too much but was later shown that she was throwing dots that were just not being caught. Ever since the spotlight on this, Clark now leads the league for most assists per game with 8.2 per game.

The sportsbooks don’t even want to take a chance here and give any sort of attractive number. Assuming she keeps up this play and she leads the Fever to the playoffs, then this should be her trophy to win.

Angel Reese will look to close the gap and make this a competition

Rookie of the Year Prediction #2: Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (+700) Get 50% up to $750 Deposit on Bovada for this pick

Reese is another one who came into this league and wow’d the crowd. She is a gritty player who battles down low. Not a lot of the time she is battling for her own rebounds because she doesn’t shoot well, but that’s another story.

Angel is averaging 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. She is just about tied with A’ja Wlson for most rebounds per game in the league. Like I mentioned, she doesn’t shoot very well, only shooting 40% from the field. She gets a lot of 2nd chance points after grabbing offensive boards.

Just like Clark, Reese has been setting records herself. She holds the WNBA record for most consecutive double doubles with 15. This was impressive, but started to get a little stale as she was obviously trying at the end of games to keep the streak going.

We are getting some really good value on Reese to win, even though it is highly unlikely. There are approximately 15 games left, so she will need Clark to take a steep decline. Reese is also leading her team into the playoffs, which could play a big factor at the end if the Fever miss the playoffs.
