Broncos vs Buccaneers NFL Week 3 Predictions & Picks (9/22)
We’re only entering the third week of the 2024 season and these teams are already heading in opposite directions.
The Broncos dropped to 0-2 on the campaign with last week’s embarrassing 13-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Denver was held off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter in a game that saw rookie QB Bo Nix throw out two interceptions.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers remained perfect as they notched a 20-16 win against the Detroit Lions. It looked like Tampa Bay was about to suffer a loss until QB Baker Mayfield scored an 11-yard touchdown run with 34 seconds remaining to give his team the victory.
Nevertheless, this Week 3 encounter is the first Broncos vs. Buccaneers matchup in four years. While Denver has won four of the last five meetings with Tampa Bay, it was the Bucs who emerged with the 28-10 win when they last collided on Sept. 27, 2020.
It’s been nearly four years since the Buccaneers and Broncos last met. Who’ll emerge victorious this time?
The Buccaneers are 7-point favorites heading into this week and it isn’t difficult to see why. They’re 5-1 SU with a plus-10.8 average scoring margin in their last six home games, which includes when they blew out the Washington Commanders by 17 points at Raymond James Stadium in Week 1.
Meanwhile, the Broncos have won only four of their last 20 away games, showing just how bad they’ve been outside of Denver in the last few seasons. Furthermore, the Broncos have dropped three consecutive road games dating back to the 2023 campaign, having been outscored 95-51 on aggregate along the way.
Considering how that’s nearly double the Broncos’ offensive output, I’m taking the Buccaneers to win and cover the spread in Week 3. Baker Mayfield & Co. are already shaping up to be one of the best NFC teams this season and they shouldn’t struggle against a Broncos team that has only scored one touchdown through two weeks.
