LeBron James, NBA players react to NCAA Women's National Championship game

South Carolina defeated Iowa in the NCAA title game to become the 10th undefeated champion in women’s college basketball history.

The South Carolina Gamecocks completed their perfect season, outlasting Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the NCAA Women’s National Championship game 87-75 on Sunday. Led by senior Kamilla Cardoso’s 15 points and career-high 17 rebounds, the Gamecocks (38-0) became the 10th Division I team to go through a season without a loss.

It marks the end of Clark’s historic collegiate career at Iowa. She finished the title game with 30 points, including a championship-record 18 in the first quarter. Clark became the NCAA Division I all-time scoring leader (3,951 career points) earlier this season.

Her stardom helped the Women’s Tournament become must-watch television this year, drawing unprecedented attention on all levels — from record-setting TV viewership, to an upswing in ticket prices, to driving new fans to the women’s game. South Carolina coach Dawn Staley offered high praise for Clark as well, crediting the future WNBA star for “lifting up” the sport.

LeBron James and other NBA players reacted to the championship game Sunday on social media.
