As you read through this game preview, the Angels and Yankees are still likely preparing for the first game of today’s doubleheader. The American League franchises previously clashed for three games in May, resulting in two wins for New York as it outscored Los Angeles by a total of 13-8 on aggregate.

The action now shifts to the Bronx, where the Yankees are 10-4 SU in the last 14 times that they hosted the Angels. That includes New York beating Los Angeles in six of the last seven clashes at Yankee Stadium, outscoring the latter by an average of 2.7 runs along the way.

Another thing that the Yankees have going for them is that they’re a dominant 12-6 SU (66.7%) against the AL West this season. Conversely, the Angels are only 8-14 SU (36.3%) against AL East opponents — a pretty stark contrast.

The Yankees have had a ton of recent success against the Angels and AL West as a whole.

The Angels are planning to send in Carson Fulmer for the second meeting of today’s doubleheader. After spending the first part of the season as a reliever, Fulmer has started in each of his last four appearances.

While he failed to pick up a win each time, the 30-year-old righty still pitched to a 3.43 ERA while striking out 21 batters in as many innings.

Meanwhile, the Yankees’ Will Warren will be making his second-ever MLB start. The former 2021 eighth-rounder debuted against the Philadelphia Phillies last week and things didn’t go well as he surrendered four earned runs, two walks, and four hits in 5 1/3 innings. Although the Yankees still won the game, Warren must find a way to limit the opposition’s offense.

With that being said, I’m siding with the Yankees in Game 2. They’re the clear-cut better team and World Series contenders, whereas the Angels have been bottom-feeders all season long. Based on how this season’s early encounters went, taking the Yankees to cover the run line is the right call this evening.

Best Angels vs Yankees MLB Player Prop (8/7)

As for the best Angels vs. Yankees doubleheader Game 2 player prop, you can’t go wrong with Aaron Judge hitting a home run (+220) on Bovada.

Judge heads into tonight’s contest with an MLB-leading 41 home runs in 111 games. Six of those round-trippers came in 33 at-bats across his last nine games, meaning he tallied an HR in 18.1% of ABs during that stretch. That’s without mentioning how he’s also hit a ball into the stands in two of his last three home games.

It’s also worth mentioning that Fulmer allowed a home run in four of his five previous appearances, which includes in each of the last three. Given that Judge is batting .338 with 33 HRs against right-handed starters this season, you can see why I’m a big fan of this prop bet.
