“The guy needs to be Joe Biden’d, he’s too old”

While Tom Aspinall respects Stipe Miocic, he doesn’t want the veteran to stall his way to a title shot.
Miocic was originally scheduled to challenge Jon Jones for the heavyweight title at UFC 295 in November 2023 before an injury forced “Bones” out of the event. Aspinall stepped up for a short-notice interim title fight against Sergei Pavlovich on the same card, where he knocked out the Russian in the first round.
Aspinall initially called for Jones to be stripped off his title. “Honey Badger” later changed track and has been calling for a title unification matchup against Jones when “Bones” is ready to return to the Octagon. However, Jones remains adamant on fighting Miocic on his return, and the promotion also seems keen on preserving the matchup, which is rumored for New York in November. Awaiting his shot at undisputed gold, Aspinall defended his interim strap with a first-round KO win over Curtis Blaydes in the co-main event at UFC 304 in Manchester last month.
While Aspinall has been respectful to both veterans while making his own case for a title unifier, he has now called for Miocic to be ousted from the picture. Aspinall noted that the 41-year-old Miocic is coming off a brutal KO loss and hasn’t fought in over three years. Aspinall claims fans aren’t awaiting Miocic’s return with much eagerness. The Brit called for Miocic to be “Joe Biden’d” from the sport, like the U.S. President’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election.
“Get Stipe out of there,” Miocic told TNT Sports. “Let’s be honest. The guy is 43 [41] years old. He’s had a four-year layoff and his last fight was a knockout loss. Granted, he’s an absolute legend in the sport of MMA. He’s the best heavyweight ever. Like statistically, he’s the best heavyweight ever. But the guy needs to be pulled out of the race. The guy needs to be Joe Biden’d, mate. He’s too old. No one’s that interested anymore. And I respect Stipe a lot. Pull him out, stick me in. It’s right though, isn’t it? It is right. Get Joe Biden out of there. Stick me in.”
