Team USA may not have unlocked their best level often in the group stage of the Olympic men’s basketball tournament, but they are successfully halfway through their journey to a fifth straight gold medal. Unless one of the biggest upsets in basketball history happens today against Brazil (3:00 pm ET, USA Network).
As expected, Team USA won all three of their Group C games, finishing ahead of Nikola Jokic and Serbia. They hit the 100-point mark all three wins, with the best performance coming in an opening 110-84 win over Serbia.
Victory over Brazil will punch a ticket to a rematch against Serbia, who came from 24 down against Australia and advanced to the semifinals with a five-point overtime win over the Boomers.
Is there any chance that Brazil could throw a wrench into things? They made France and Germany work for their wins in Group B action, but a matchup with Team USA is the stiffest of all challenges. Brazil has three Olympic men’s basketball medals to their name, as they won bronze in 1948, 1960, and 1964. But they haven’t been past the semifinals since finishing fourth in 1968, and even better than their best is unlikely to touch the USA today.

Brazil vs USA Betting Analysis
While Team USA scored 110, 103, and 104 points in their group stage wins over Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico, how much did we see their very best?
The opener against Serbia was the best example of what Team USA can do against even the most elite competition. In scoring 110 points, they shot 56.3% from three and 62.3% overall from the field, and they held Serbia to 41.9% from the field.
They didn’t need to show up to the same degree to take care of South Sudan and Puerto Rico with relative ease, and they won’t need to today either in order to see off Brazil.
Brazil led almost all of the first half against France and even had a 12-point lead against the hosts in the second quarter, before things went south.
Against Germany, they rallied from an early 14-point deficit to send the game into halftime tied at 40. Again, they couldn’t take their challenge all the way, but they avoided the kind of routs that would have hurt their potential to reach the quarterfinals.
Thanks to a 102-84 win over Japan in their final Group B match, Brazil qualified for the quarters as the best of the third-place teams.
To deliver the kind of win they needed to get against Japan shows that there is some serious mettle in the squad.
But unless a miracle of mythic propositions happens, Brazil’s Olympic men’s basketball participation will come to an end today at the hands of the gold medal favorites.

Brazil vs USA Prediction & Picks
Team USA doesn’t need a blowout victory today, but with Serbia lying in wait in the semifinals, now may the time to flex their muscles even more and show on mercy, much like they did in destroying Serbia.
I like their chances to cover the spread, but as with most spreads around this number, there’s not a lot of reason to take it.
But there are three Brazil vs USA betting lines that stick out to me above the rest, and I feel good about them all.
The over hitting will require another 100-point performance, and it may also require Team USA allowing some points as well. In the group stage, they allowed 84, 86, and 83 points, so they have yet to fully shut down a team.
Also, look for Anthony Edwards to be heavily involved. He put up 26 points against Puerto Rico and had 13 against South Sudan and 11 against Serbia, and in what should be a handy rout, he should get a chance to show off again like he did against Puerto Rico.
Brazil vs USA Prediction: USA to win
