You have lineup questions, we have lineup answers — at least we hope so. Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is here to help fantasy managers make difficult roster decisions. And you know what is a good move? Starting Patrick Mahomes. But that’s too obvious, so you won’t see the reigning MVP here. Instead, we’re exploring more debatable situations. And if you can’t find a player you are looking for, please check out the latest NFL Fantasy lineup rankings.

Start ‘Em

Jake Elliott
Philadelphia Eagles PHI

Miami Dolphins
5-1

Last week, Elliott only managed to earn two fantasy points. However, before this, he had consistently scored a minimum of 11 points per game and held an average of 13.4 fantasy PPG. Despite last week’s performance, he remains the highest-scoring kicker this season. In the anticipated high-scoring game against the Dolphins, he is undeniably a must-start player.

Brett Maher
Los Angeles Rams LAR

Pittsburgh Steelers
3-2

Last week, Maher rebounded with 14 fantasy points against the Cardinals. He has scored in double digits in all games this season except one. Currently, he is the second highest-scoring kicker in fantasy. Despite the Rams’ ability to move the ball effectively, they have struggled to get it into the end zone. However, in a game like this, they will happily take the points. Maher is an essential start option.

Tyler Bass
Buffalo Bills BUF

New England Patriots
1-5

Bass has managed to score two fantasy points in consecutive games, despite missing two 50-yard kicks last week. He has shown his potential, scoring over 12 fantasy points in three out of the first four games of the season, and eight in the other. With his ties to one of the league’s top offenses, there’s still significant potential for high scores. Now facing the Patriots, who are known for allowing the second-highest fantasy PPG to kickers, it’s worth giving Bass another chance.

Riley Patterson
Detroit Lions DET

Baltimore Ravens
4-2

This season, Patterson has consistently been a reliable kicker, scoring over eight fantasy points in three of his last four games. The Ravens, who have given up the fifth highest fantasy PPG to kickers this season, are the next opponents. This game might see the Lions getting into field goal range and then struggling. It’s likely that Dan Campbell will opt for the points on the road. Therefore, it would be a good move to start Patterson this week.

Sit ‘Em

Jason Sanders
Miami Dolphins MIA

Philadelphia Eagles
5-1

Sanders has managed to achieve seven or less fantasy points in his last three games and in four out of his previous five. He’s only hit double digits twice this season. It’s not Sanders’ fault, as his team consistently scores a touchdown almost every drive. In reality, he’s kicked 28 extra points and only five field goals. Now, he’s up against the Eagles, who have given up the third-least fantasy PPG to kickers. I would recommend choosing a different kicker for this week.

Matt Gay
Indianapolis Colts IND

Cleveland Browns
3-2

Gay has scored double digits in three games this season. He has one massive performance (Week 3) … but also three games with seven fantasy points or fewer. This week, he draws the Browns, who might just completely erase the Colts’ offense. Cleveland has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy PPG to kickers this season. There will certainly be weeks where Gay is in play, but I would go in another direction in this one.

Greg Joseph
Minnesota Vikings MIN

San Francisco 49ers
5-1

Joseph has managed to score eight and 11 fantasy points in the past two weeks, marking his best performances of the season. However, he only managed to score six or fewer in each of the initial four games. This week, when playing against the Niners, I would suggest avoiding him. His offense is likely to face challenges in advancing the ball. Furthermore, if the Vikings are forced to play catch-up, they might favor aggressively aiming for touchdowns instead of settling for field goals. Both his potential minimum and maximum scores are expected to be low.

Chad Ryland
New England Patriots

Buffalo Bills
4-2

Ryland has yet to reach double digits in a game this season. In fact, he has topped five fantasy points just once. For years we have been able to rely on Patriots kickers in fantasy football, but that is not the case in 2023. The floor and ceiling are low every week, but they’re even lower against the Bills, who have allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy PPG to kickers.
