GOAL ranks the heat of all 29 teams in Major League Soccer: who’s hot and who’s not?

The field for the 2024 MLS is wide open. While there is a distinct hierarchy among the top teams in both the Eastern and Western Conferences, beyond the top five, playoff qualification is up for grabs.

On matchday 30, Inter Miami and Luis Suarez dominated the Chicago Fire, and the Herons are looking like a team of destiny. However, nothing is guaranteed as the season closes out, despite their seven-point lead atop the Supporters' Shield standings.

Reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew, who just claimed the Leagues Cup after a thrilling victory over LAFC, avoided a tournament hangover with a brilliant victory over NYCFC.

In an unexpected development, the LA Galaxy and LAFC, the leading teams in the West, found themselves at the losing end in their individual games. Concurrently, the Portland Timbers, under Phil Neville’s management, won the Cascadia Cup, while CF Montreal appears to be a club spiraling downwards.

With the MLS campaign nearing a close, which club leads the pack, and who is falling short of expectations? GOAL presents the latest MLS Power Rankings.
