Commanders DL Jonathan Allen fumes after Sunday's loss to Giants: 'They whooped our a–'

Washington Commanders defensive lineman Jonathan Allen fumed after Sunday’s 14-7 loss to the New York Giants.

“They whooped our a–, plain and simple. Got to be better,” Allen said, via JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

Allen was just getting started in what would turn into an expletive-ridden rant after the Commanders got down 14-0 to Tyrod Taylor and the Giants on Sunday and could not crawl out of the hole.

Allen stated, “I believe our issue is simply a lack of focus. We’re not paying enough attention to detail, we’re not starting strong, and we’re creating problems that are too large to fix in the second half.”

The Commanders suffered their seventh loss in the last 10 encounters against the Giants on Sunday.

Allen was asked whether the repeated setbacks over the past few seasons, including losing four out of their last five games in 2023, becomes frustrating.

“Absolutely, it does,” Allen responded. “I’m completely exhausted of this nonsense. I’m utterly tired of this rubbish. It’s been seven exhausting years of the same scenario. I’m tired of this nonsense.”

Allen, a former first-round pick who signed a lucrative long-term extension in 2021, has spent the past seven seasons riding the D.C. roller-coaster. Sunday’s loss to New York was a low point.

Big Blue was permitted by Washington to score their season’s first offensive first-half TD. The Commanders struggled offensively, managing only 31 net first-half yards over eight possessions, which included six three-and-outs and an interception. This left them trailing 14-0 at halftime. Washington made a comeback in the second half with an early third quarter TD, but their offense stalled in the red zone twice and their defense surrendered a lengthy drive to the Giants.

Allen’s remarks cast a poor light on Ron Rivera, the team members, and those wishing to stay on if off-season changes are made under new management. One of Washington’s minority owners gave his evaluation of Sunday’s game.

My Commanders suffered a disappointing 14-7 defeat to the NY Giants. Scoring only 7 points makes it tough to secure a win in the NFL.

The season’s outcome for Allen will depend on how the club reacts in the future.

“Get our minds right and get ready to play f—— Philadelphia,” he said of Week 8‘s opponent.
