Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (ankle) questionable to play vs. Broncos

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is officially listed as questionable for Thursday night’s tilt against the Denver Broncos.

Kelce participated in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday on a limited basis, providing him with an opportunity to play within the short week.

The tight end suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings. Kelce slipped to the turf on a non-contact play and limped to the sidelines. He went to the locker room early but emerged just before the third quarter kicked off.

Kelce was absent for the Chiefs’ initial drive in the second half but came in on the second one. He played a crucial role in a touchdown drive, receiving five passes during the possession, including the one that extended K.C.’s lead to 14 points.

It was uncertain if Kelce could participate in Week 6 due to the quick transition to Thursday night. However, the trend throughout the week gives cause for optimism.

Despite missing Week 1 due to a knee bruise, his first game missed from injury since his rookie season in 2013, Kelce is leading the Chiefs with 37 targets, 27 receptions, 222 receiving yards, and three touchdown catches.

The Chiefs also listed defensive end George Karlaftis (hamstring) and punter Tommy Townsend (knee) as questionable.
