Krug to undergo season-ending ankle surgery

Doug Armstrong, St. Louis Blues’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, has announced that Torey Krug, the team’s defenseman, will have surgery for pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle. As a result, Krug will miss the entire 2024-25 season.

The choice to proceed with surgery was made after attempting to heal the injury through non-surgical treatments.

The Blues originally signed Krug, 33, as a free agent on October 9, 2020. The native of Livonia, Michigan, played in 77 regular-season games last season, accumulating 39 points (four goals, 35 assists) and serving 32 penalty minutes.

In 255 regular-season games spanning four seasons with the Blues, Krug has accumulated 146 points, comprising 22 goals and 124 assists, along with 154 penalty minutes.

In total, he has participated in 778 regular-season career games, including periods with Boston and St. Louis, accumulating 483 points (89 goals, 394 assists) and receiving 374 penalty minutes.
