Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry Fight Preview

Oddsmakers have a clear-cut favorite when Jake Paul and Mike Perry collide in Tampa, FL this weekend. BetOnline is favoring Paul to emerge victorious at a whopping -400 — an implied win probability of 80.0%.

The 27-year-old social media phenom has his fair share of doubters for numerous reasons, however, he’s been able to shut a chunk of them up with his in-ring success. While his opponents’ skill levels have varied, Paul is still 9-1 in a boxing ring with six knockout victories under his belt. He’s currently on a three-fight winning streak, most recently picking up first-round KO/TKO victories over Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

Perry also isn’t the first former MMA star that Paul has fought, having already defeated the likes of Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.

It’ll be interesting to see how Perry performs in his second-ever boxing match. The Flint, MI native previously faced Kenneth McNeil back in 2015, losing via KO in Round 4.

Having said that, it was the MMA world where Perry made a name for himself. He fought to a 14-8 record across seven years and even began his career with 11 knockout wins in his first 12 fights. Unfortunately, he couldn’t maintain that success over the long term and decided to walk away from the UFC in 2021 following seven losses in his final 10 outings.

But when one door closes, another opens. Since walking away from the UFC, Perry has gone 5-0 as a bare-knuckle fighter and just finished Thiago Alves, Eddie Alvarez, and Luke Rockhold in each of his last three fights.

While Perry might not have the same level of boxing experience as Paul, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a tough customer who won’t go down without a fight.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry Prop Bets & Betting Trends

Sportsbooks like BetOnline also have a variety of Paul vs. Perry betting props that shed more light on how the fight may unfold.

For instance, BetOnline is favoring that Saturday’s showdown won’t go the distance at -200 odds. Although Paul has gone the distance four times in his boxing career, his last two outings ended with a finish. On the other hand, eight of Perry’s final 10 MMA bouts reach the round limit, as have two of his first five BKFC bouts.

If there is a finish, Paul is favored to win by KO/TKO at -130 odds — something he’s done six times. But even though that’s the favored outcome, it’s worth noting that Perry has only been knocked out twice between his MMA, BKFC, and boxing careers.

If you’re looking to get juicier odds for a finish, Paul is most likely to KO/TKO Perry in either Round 4 or 5 (+850). Interestingly enough, five of his six career knockout wins occurred in the first two rounds.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry Prediction & Best Bet

As this fight looms on the horizon, I predict a Jake Paul victory this weekend. Mike Perry has the combat sports advantage, but Paul is bigger and has had more boxing success. That experience is going to pay off for the 27-year-old as he outlasts Perry at Amalie Arena.

As for my betting pick, I like Paul winning via points. Perry might be the major underdog, but he’s still as tough as nails and knows how to survive an onslaught. I see the BKFC star handling everything Paul throws his way before the judges award the win to the latter.

Paul vs Perry Prediction: Jake Paul wins

Paul vs Perry Best Bet: Jake Paul via decision (+210)
