Indiana Fever vs Minnesota Lynx Prediction & Picks for Today (7/14): Clark, Fever Seek Road Upset in Minneapolis

After a slow start to the season, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever find themselves in a positive position in the WNBA playoff picture with two games remaining before the league takes a break for the Summer Olympics. If they can upset the odds on the road against the Minnesota Lynx today (4:00 pm ET, ESPN), they will enhance their position even more.

On Friday, the Fever (10-14) went into double digits in the win column with a 95-86 win over the visiting Phoenix Mercury. Clark recorded 20 points, 13 assists, and six rebounds, and she added two blocks and a steal. It was her fifth straight game with ten or more assists, and it was her ninth 20-point game of the season.

Entering today’s game at the Target Center, the Fever are in seventh in the WNBA standings, a half-game ahead of Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky (9-14), who lost to the New York Liberty yesterday.

Except for their four-game win streak last month, the Fever have not been able to string consecutive wins together. Will that change today? The Lynx (16-7) could be without WNBA MVP candidate Napheesa Collier for the fifth straight game, though she has been upgraded to questionable and will be a game-time decision.

Indiana Fever vs Minnesota Lynx Betting Analysis

In many instances, when a player is upgraded to questionable after being sidelined, that is a positive indication that they will play.

Will that prove to be the case with Collier? With her set to jet off to Paris with the U.S. women’s Olympic team, it would seem unlikely that she would be risked for what amounts to a relatively inconsequential regular season game.

At the same time, she might be looking to shake some rust off before she heads to the Olympics, so there is certainly a possibility she could return to the court today.

That said, even if she does miss a fifth straight game, the Lynx should be able to take care of business against the Fever at home.

Without Collier, Minnesota is 2-2, with losses to the Connecticut Sun and Seattle Storm sandwiched around wins over the Washington Mystics and Los Angeles Sparks.

The Fever are a much better unit than they were earlier in the season, with their core of Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and NaLyssa Smith all providing valuable contributions currently. With their 95-point output against the Mercury, the Fever have now scored 80+ points nine times in their last 11 games.

But Minnesota is strong at home, especially against the league’s lesser teams. And with all due respect to the improvement that Indiana has made and will continue to make, they are still in that group.

Fever vs Lynx Picks: Lynx -6.5 & Caitlin Clark over 33.5 points + rebounds + assists (-113 at BetOnline)

Other than their two wins over the Mercury, the Fever are just 1-11 SU and 4-8 ATS against the top six teams in the WNBA standings (New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun, Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, Seattle Storm, and Phoenix Mercury). The Lynx, meanwhile, are 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS against the bottom half of the WNBA (Indiana Fever, Chicago Sky, Atlanta Dream, Los Angeles Sparks, Washington Mystics, and Dallas Wings).
