We are paying some juice to back the Orioles who have now lost four straight games. They just got swept by the Cubs and now lost their opener to the Yankees, all at Camden Yards. This team is 29-21 at home this year, and just one game ahead of New York in the AL East, meaning this game has huge implications.
Grayson Rodriguez has won three straight starts, and 6 of his L7 overall. He pitched once against the Yankees back in April and picked up the win at home. He pitched 5.2 shutout innings, allowing just 5 hits and 3 walks. His ERA drops down to 2.27 at home this season, and his WHIP down to 1.04 as well. He’s won two straight home starts, and with the way the Orioles are in need of a win, I think their bats finally come alive tonight.
It won’t be easy against Luis Gil, but he really has not done well recently. Gil has lost his last 4 starts, giving up a home run in each game. One of those losses was against the Orioles where he only lasted 1.1 innings before giving up 7 runs on 8 hits. In his last start at Camden Yards, Gil did have a solid outing, pitching 6.1 shutout innings and allowing just 2 hits. But clearly the next time he saw this lineup they ripped him apart which I think they do tonight.
Baltimore leads the regular season series 5-3 and are currently just 1 game ahead in the AL East standings. I think after dropping 4 straight, Baltimore battles back, rediscovers their bats, and lights up Gil for plenty of runs.
Kansas City Royals vs Boston Red Sox Best Bets
Seth Lugo has been outstanding for the Royals this season

In this match at Fenway, we have two absolute studs on the mound, and I am completely leaving the bullpen out of it. We are just backing the starters, Seth Lugo and Kutter Crawford, to do what they’ve done all year, and shut down opposing hitters.
Lugo is coming off a loss in Colorado, but he has only allowed 2 earned runs in his last 3 starts spanning 18 innings. Despite his stellar stats, his ERA and WHIP both drop on the road, down to 2.03 and 0.97. Boston’s hitter’s splits don’t improve much at home or against RHP, so I think he will be fine on the mound today.
As for Crawford, he’s coming off two straight wins on the road, and a win in his last home outing as well. He pitched 7 shutout innings against the Yankees giving up just 4 hits, and the Royals bats drastically get worse on the road. They hit .247 as a team but .227 on the road and hit just .228 the entire month of June. I’m taking the bullpens out of the equation and thinking the pitchers can sit down their opponent’s for the first 5 innings.
