Last year, Carlos Alcaraz outlasted Novak Djokovic in five sets in a four-hour, 43-minute Wimbledon men’s singles final. Today, Djokovic will look to turn the tables on Centre Court as the two tennis titans tangle with this year’s title at stake.
Last year’s defeat ended Djokovic’s calendar-year Grand Slam hopes, but he bounced back to win the US Open by taking out Daniil Medvedev.
That was his 24th career Grand Slam singles title, and this will be his first attempt at his 25th after losing in the Australian Open semifinals and being forced to withdraw from the French Open after the fourth round.
If Djokovic does indeed turn around last year’s result, he will win his eighth Wimbledon men’s singles title, which would tie retired rival Roger Federer’s record for most all-time Wimbledon men’s singles titles. Not only will he tie that record, he will extend his record for Grand Slam men’s singles titles, and he will set a new all-time record across both men’s and women’s singles, breaking his current tie with Margaret Court.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, is looking for his second Grand Slam title of the year and the fourth of his young career. Last month, he defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the French Open final.
Who will come out on top today in today’s Wimbledon final rematch? Alcaraz is the #3 seed but is a small favorite over Djokovic, the #2 seed.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic Betting Analysis
In 2023, Djokovic was going for a fifth consecutive Wimbledon title and took the first set 6-1. Alcaraz took the next two sets 7-6 (8-6) and 6-1, but Djokovic forced a fifth set after surviving two break chances in his first service game in the fourth set.
In the final set, both saved a break chance in their first service game of the set, then Alcaraz turned the tide in his favor by breaking to go 2-1 up. From there, he finished off a 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win to claim his second Grand Slam title.
This will be the sixth meeting between Alcaraz and Djokovic and the third in a Grand Slam, which includes Djokovic’s four-set win over Alcaraz in the semifinals of last year’s French Open. Djoker holds a 3-2 lead, as he followed up his Wimbledon loss with victories in the final of the Cincinnati Masters and in the semifinals of the ATP Finals.
That Djokovic suffered a torn meniscus on June 3 against Francisco Cerundolo and is playing in the Wimbledon final against Alcaraz just 41 days later is both unsurprising and no small feat.
But will he complete this stretch with a record-tying eighth Wimbledon title?
He is the fresher player, by far. Alcaraz has played 23 sets and 231 games in his six matches. Djokovic has only played five matches, and in those five matches, he played 17 sets and 168 games.
But Alcaraz has successful navigated challenges in every match, and he has the experience of finding himself in a challenging spot against Djokovic and getting through it, which many are not able to.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic Prediction & Picks
Due to Djokovic’s history both at Wimbledon and overall, it is rather interesting that he is the underdog here, even if he did suffer a torn meniscus just last month.
In fact, if the odds hold, this will be the first time that Djokovic will enter a Wimbledon match as the underdog since the 2011 Wimbledon final. That year, he defeated #1 seed and favorite Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 to win the first of his seven Wimbledon titles (and the third of his 24 overall Grand Slam titles.
This presents a great opportunity to back Djokovic in an extremely rare position. It is rather tempting to do so. He hasn’t made a blemish-free run throughout the tournament, but he has been extremely impressive. He hasn’t had to face any of the top seeds, but you can only beat who is front of you, and he has done well in doing just that.
But Alcaraz has successfully dealt with some tough opponents, including himself. Also, his experience last year against Djokovic is something he can call on if he finds himself in a tough spot, as well as his come-from-behind five-set wins in the semifinals and final of the French Open against Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev respectively.
I look for this one to go four or five sets, so I lean towards the over in this spot. And while he likely won’t do it the easy way both based on his run to the final and the player he’s going up against, I like Alcaraz to down Djokovic for the Wimbledon title for a second straight year.
