Kentucky vs Florida College World Series Prediction & Picks: Who Will Advance to Face A&M in Omaha?

After having their College World Series elimination matchup postponed by inclement weather, Kentucky and Florida will duel on the diamond bright and early this morning in Omaha (11:00 am ET, ESPN).

The winner of the matchup between the #2 Wildcats (46-15) and the Gators (35-29) will move on to face #3 Texas A&M in the semifinals this evening (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).

On Monday, Florida stayed alive with a 5-4 win over #10 NC State. Jac Caglianone’s three-run homer in the second inning put the Gators ahead 4-1, and another fine relief effort by Brandon Neely helped UF’s early lead stand up.

In the nightcap on Monday, Kentucky’s bats were silenced by Texas A&M pitcher Ryan Prager in the Aggies’ 5-1 win. It was just the 13th time all season that the Wildcats were held to fewer than five runs in a game.

Who will set up an all-SEC semifinal showdown? The Wildcats are favored, but the Gators have the experience at this stage that Kentucky doesn’t.

Kentucky vs Florida Betting Analysis

In the regular season, the Wildcats took two out of three games when the two teams met in Gainesville last month.

At that point, Florida’s NCAA Tournament hopes were on the ropes ahead of their final regular season series, and their position of peril only deepened when they lost the opener to Georgia.

But they won the final two games against the Bulldogs and made the most of squeezing into the field of 64, which they did despite an early exit from the SEC Tournament.

Will last year’s CWS runner-up stay alive in Omaha? For the season, Florida is only 15-19 in games following a win, and in a stretch from early March to early June, the Gators were just 6-17 in games following a win.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, are 9-5 in games following a loss. Also, they are 8-4 in games following a game in which they were held to fewer than five runs.

However, I am rolling with Florida to move on to face Texas A&M tonight at Charles Schwab Field. The Gators are in a different spot than they were in when the two teams met on the penultimate weekend of the regular season, and I just like the value with the underdog.

I also like the over to cash. Across the 2019 and 2021-23 editions of the College World Series, a dozen or more runs were scored in only one of these elimination games.

But Florida State and North Carolina combined for 14 runs in yesterday’s 9-5 win for the Seminoles, and I think the bats will have a bigger say in this matchup as well.
