NEW YORK — The National Basketball Association announced Saturday that the Salary Cap has been set at $109.14 million for the 2019-20 season. The tax level for the 2019-20 season is $132.627 million.
The implementation of the Salary Cap and tax level is scheduled for 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday, July 1. The league announced in May that teams are permitted to start negotiations with free agents at 6:00 p.m. ET on June 30, which is six hours before the league’s “moratorium period” begins. This moratorium period concludes at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 6.
For the 2019-20 season, the minimum team salary is $98.226 million, which is 90 percent of the Salary Cap.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement stipulates three distinct mid-level exceptions based on a team’s salary level. For the 2019-20 season, the non-taxpayer mid-level is set at $9.258 million, the taxpayer mid-level at $5.718 million, and the mid-level for a team with available Salary Cap space at $4.767 million.
