NBA Salary Cap set at $109.14 million for 2019-20

NEW YORK — The National Basketball Association announced Saturday that the Salary Cap has been set at $109.14 million for the 2019-20 season. The tax level for the 2019-20 season is $132.627 million.

The Salary Cap and tax level will be implemented at 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday, July 1. The league announced in May that teams could start negotiations with free agents at 6:00 p.m. ET on June 30, which is six hours before the league’s “moratorium period” begins. This moratorium period will conclude at noon ET on Saturday, July 6.

For the 2019-20 season, the minimum team salary is $98.226 million, which is equivalent to 90 percent of the Salary Cap.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement stipulates three distinct mid-level exceptions based on a team’s salary level. For the 2019-20 season, the mid-level exception for a non-taxpayer team is $9.258 million, for a taxpayer team it’s $5.718 million, and for a team with space under the Salary Cap, it’s $4.767 million.
