After a ton of controversy, UFC 303 is finally arriving this weekend. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s latest pay-per-view takes over T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday with a card that’s headlined by a light heavyweight championship bout between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka.

Joe Pyfer vs. Marc-André Barriault — Middleweight

It’s challenging to disagree with the oddsmakers when considering Joe Pyfer’s impressive run leading up to UFC 303. True, he suffered a tough loss to Jack Hermansson in February, but we shouldn’t overlook the fact that he defeated five successive opponents prior to that loss. Marc-André Barriault, a competent veteran, has not exactly been conquering notable rivals and has only managed to finish two in his last six appearances.
Props are unavailable for now, so let’s go with Under 2.5 total rounds. After all, the Under is 12-1 in Pyfer’s last 13 bouts.

Cub Swanson vs. Andre Fili — Featherweight
- Record: Cub Swanson (29-13) vs. Andre Fili (23-11, 1 NC)

Despite the odds being skewed, I believe this fight could swing in either direction. Swanson holds a record of 4-2 in his most recent six matches, however, he hasn’t competed in the octagon since August 2023 and is currently 40 years old. On the other hand, Andre Fili has had inconsistent results, with a record of 2-4 and a no-contest in his last seven matches, and is fresh off a first-round knockout loss to Dan Ige.
I’d avoid betting on this fight altogether, however, back the Under on the 2.5-round total if you want to get in on the action. Not only is the Under 3-2 in Swanson’s last five fights but it’s also 4-2 in Fili’s six previous outings.

Charles Jourdain vs. Jean Silva — Featherweight

This featherweight match could potentially steal the show. Charles Jourdain, an experienced fighter, is looking to bounce back from a split-decision loss to Sean Woodson. On the other hand, Jean Silva is targeting his 10th straight win after defeating Westin Wilson by TKO in his first UFC fight.
I’m taking the underdog to win this bout. While Jourdain has more experience and is slightly bigger, Silva is the better grappler of the two and hasn’t lost a fight in over six years. Sparks should fly as the 27-year-old continues his hot streak.

Payton Talbott vs. Yanis Ghemmouri — Bantamweight

Payton Talbott is the most favored fighter on the UFC 303 card, with his -1800 moneyline odds suggesting a 94.8% probability of him winning. So far, he has defeated seven out of his eight opponents and enhanced his UFC record to 2-0 after a TKO victory against Cameron Saaiman in March.
After Yanis Ghemmouri was TKO’d by William Gomis in his debut, it’s clear that we shouldn’t expect an upset. Three of Talbott’s last four fights reached Round 3, though, making the Over the best bet here.

Michelle Waterson-Gomez vs. Gillian Robertson — Women’s Strawweight

Sports upsets happen, but I don’t foresee one in this UFC 303 fight. Given that Michelle Waterson-Gomez has lost six of her recent seven fights, and four straight losses including a second-round TKO defeat to Marina Rodriguez in September, it’s justified that she’s considered the underdog.
Gillian Robertson may not be flawless, but her chances of winning are higher considering she has had four wins in her last six matches. This includes her spectacular performance at UFC 297, where she knocked out Polyana Viana, earning her the ‘performance of the night’ recognition.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Martin Buday — Heavyweight

Andrei Arlovski’s prime days are definitively behind him as he approaches UFC 303 on the back of three straight losses, two of which were through knockout/submission. The one-time UFC Heavyweight Champion now faces the challenge of Martin Buday, eager for a victory following his knockout by Shamil Gaziev less than seven months prior.
Arlovski needs to hang up the gloves at this point because the 45-year-old no longer belongs in the cage. Three of Buday’s last five fights went the distance, though, while seven of Arlovski’s last 10 did the same, making the Over the best available betting option.

Here’s another battle I won’t ponder too much. Although Rei Tsuruya is making his debut with a 9-0 record in his MMA career, Carlos Hernandez has already been defeated twice in his first three UFC matches, giving the impression that he’s out of his league in the promotion.
I predict that Tsuruya, with an 88.9% finish rate, will conclude things quickly.

Ricky Simon vs. Vinicius Oliveira — Bantamweight

Vinicius Oliveira marked his debut with a victory over Bernando Sopai in March, scoring his third successive knockout win. Now, he is lined up to compete against Ricky Simon, who is in dire need of a win following two consecutive losses for the first time in half a decade.
Even though Simon has more experience, I’m going with an upset. Oliveira has solid potential and has the perfect opportunity to catch his opponent in the middle of a slump. It won’t be easy, but sprinkling some money on an Oliveira upset is worth it.
