Dolphins OLB Bradley Chubb has torn ACL, out for remainder of 2023 season

Miami is headed for the playoffs, but regrettably for the Dolphins, their Pro Bowl pass rusher won’t be joining them.

Bradley Chubb suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens and is out for the remainder of the season, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per sources. It’s the second such injury in the 27-year-old’s career.

Rapoport reported Sunday that Chubb was feared to have suffered a significant injury and Monday’s MRI revealed just that. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the injury in his Monday news conference.

“It’s a big loss for the team, the locker room,” McDaniel said, via Pro Football Network’s Adam Beasley.

Chubb, in his seventh season and a two-time Pro Bowler, had emerged as a powerhouse for the Dolphins. Ahead of Sunday, he had accumulated 4.5 sacks in the last two games. His season concludes with 11 sacks, six forced fumbles, and 74 tackles.

Regrettably, the standout edge is not unfamiliar with injuries, just like the Dolphins pass rush.

In 2019, Chubb’s season with the Denver Broncos was cut short due to an ACL tear after just four weeks. He also missed 10 games in 2021 because of an ankle injury.

Now, Chubb joins teammate and fellow pass rusher Jaelan Phillips, who tore his Achilles on Black Friday.

Still looking to wrap up the AFC East, the Dolphins will face the Bills to end the regular season and begin the rest of their campaign without Chubb.
