Aces vs Dream Prediction & Picks (5/31): Are the Champs on Upset Alert in Atlanta?

The last time the Las Vegas Aces faced off against the Atlanta Dream at the Gateway Center in College Park, A’ja Wilson matched the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points in August. What will she bring to their first game this season tonight (7:00 pm ET, ION)?

After a surprising home loss to the Phoenix Mercury ten days ago, Wilson has aided the Aces (4-1) in regaining their momentum. Last Saturday, she contributed 29 points and 15 rebounds to a victory against the Indiana Fever, and replicated those statistics in Wednesday’s triumph over the Minnesota Lynx.

Clearly, the Dream (3-2) are in for a challenging match tonight as they aim to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season. They managed a hard-fought 73-67 win against Washington, who are yet to secure a victory, on Wednesday. However, they must significantly improve their offensive strategy tonight to stand a chance of defeating the Aces, the current top scorers in the WNBA.

Las Vegas Aces vs Atlanta Dream Betting Analysis

Did the Aces need the loss to the Mercury to rediscover their best?

The Aces, despite recording 17 wins out of their 42 regular season and postseason victories by 20 or more points, have not truly annihilated any opponent. However, their latest two victories against the Fever and Lynx are more aligned with the performance level we’ve come to anticipate.

The Aces triumphed over Indiana with a 19-point lead, scoring a season-best of 99 points and making 13 three-point shots. Their defense was a notable aspect of their 80-66 victory over the Lynx on Wednesday. They managed to restrict Minnesota to a 36.9% field goal percentage and forced 16 turnovers.

Achieving this will be challenging, but the Dream can compete with the Aces if they can deliver offensively.

Their performance against the Mystics was less than stellar, with a field shooting percentage of only 41.9% and 28.6% from the three-point line. They also gave away the ball 17 times. Rhyne Howard, who is the team’s top scorer, failed to make any of her six three-point attempts, managed to make only 2 of 11 total shots from the field, and was limited to a season-low 11 points.

However, even if Howard and the Dream do get back on track on the offensive end, the Aces appear to have woken up. Look for the champs to record their third straight double-digit win and beat Atlanta for the sixth straight time and the 11th time in 12 meetings.
