The recent win also signifies the conclusion of a three-game losing streak for the Guardians. However, with a score of only 6-10 SU in their last 16 games and only one instance of consecutive road game victories since the start of August, it’s uncertain whether Cleveland’s latest win was a fluke.

Conversely, the Yankees seem to be on a downward trend. After an impressive streak of 13-5 SU from July 27 to Aug 16, the Bronx Bombers have now suffered three consecutive defeats, being outscored 16-7 in total. This underlines the necessity for enhancement in both offensive and defensive plays.

Wednesday seems to be a fortunate day for New York, particularly for the Yankees. They have a record of 13 wins and 5 losses in their last 18 Wednesday games. On the other hand, the Guardians have not been as successful, with a record of just 2 wins and 5 losses in their last seven Wednesday matches.

Things haven’t gone well for the Guardians in their recent Wednesday matchups.

On the other hand, the Guardians are giving rookie left-handed pitcher Joey Cantillo a chance. The 16th pick from the 2017 draft is off to a rocky start in his Major League Baseball career, with an 0-2 record and a high 6.23 ERA in his initial three starts. Furthermore, he’s given up four home runs in only 13 innings, a potential issue against a Yankees team that ranks second in the MLB for average home runs per game.

Both teams are capable of winning, however, the Yankees clearly know how to beat the Guardians at home and I fully expect that trend to resume this evening.

With that in mind, I fully expect the 8-run total to be surpassed. For starters, the Over is an impressive 5-1 across New York’s last six home games (12.2 total runs per game). The Over is also 3-0 in the last three Guardians-Yankees matchups as the AL juggernauts averaged 13.0 total runs in those contests and just combined for 14 less than 24 hours ago.

Given the unpredictable nature of Cantillo and Cortes’ performances, it wouldn’t surprise me if we witness some fireworks in the Bronx tonight.
