NEW YORK — The Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James has surpassed the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Dončić and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo to lead the NBA in the second fan returns of NBA All-Star Voting presented by Google.
James has taken an 82,001-vote lead over Dončić among all Western Conference players. The NBA All-Star Game captains will be the All-Star starter from each conference who receives the most fan votes in his conference.
50% of the voting power for selecting the 10 starters for the 69th NBA All-Star Game is given to fans. This game will be held at the United Center in Chicago, airing on TNT at 8 p.m. ET, on Sunday, Feb. 16. The remaining 50% of the vote is split equally between current NBA players and a media panel, each contributing 25%. Every voter is required to fill a complete ballot that includes two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference. The voting period for fans, players, and the media will end on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

In the second fan returns, James is leading all players with 3,359,871 votes, maintaining his top position in the Western Conference frontcourt. Anthony Davis from the Lakers follows with 3,124,446 votes and Kawhi Leonard from the LA Clippers is in third place with 2,210,539 votes in the West frontcourt.
Dončić is at the top of the West guards, having received 3,277,870 votes. James Harden of the Houston Rockets continues to hold the second place, with a tally of 2,167,269 votes.
Antetokounmpo has extended his lead as the highest vote-receiver among all players in the Eastern Conference, securing 3,259,383 votes in the frontcourt category. Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers remains in second place with 1,784,211 votes and Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors is in third place with 1,730,763 votes in the East frontcourt.
The top three players in the East guard group are divided by 58,051 votes. Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks continues to maintain the first position with 1,389,628 votes. He is followed by Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets in the second place with 1,351,997 votes and Kemba Walker from the Boston Celtics in the third place with 1,331,577 votes.
The team rosters for the NBA All-Star 2020 will be selected by the two captains. They will pick from a pool of players that have been voted as starters and reserves in each conference, irrespective of the conference affiliation.
TNT will reveal the NBA All-Star Game starters, including the two team captains, on Thursday, Jan. 23 during TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by Autotrader. The network will also announce the reserves, as selected by NBA head coaches, on Thursday, Jan. 30 during TNT NBA Tip-Off.

Once all votes have been counted, players will be ranked by position (either guard or frontcourt) within each conference, based on three voting groups – fan votes, player votes, and media votes. A player’s score is determined by averaging his weighted rank taken from these three voting groups. The top two guards and three frontcourt players in each conference, based on their scores, are named as the starters for the NBA All-Star Game. In cases where players in the same position group have identical scores, fan voting will be used to break the tie.
The NBA All-Star Voting, sponsored by Google, kicked off on December 25 and will continue until Monday, January 20. The last update on fan voting will be given on Thursday, January 16.
During the voting period, there are five “2-for-1 Days” where fan votes are counted twice. The rest of these days are scheduled from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. ET on the following dates: tomorrow (Jan. 10), Jan. 16, and Jan. 20. These days are applicable across all voting platforms. The previous 2-for-1 Days took place on Jan. 2 and Jan. 3.
How Fans Can Vote:
- NBA.com voting page at vote.NBA.com: Fill out one full ballot per day (per day is defined as once every 24 hours) on vote.NBA.com from a desktop or mobile browser. Fans can select up to two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference when choosing starters.
- NBA App: Access the ballot and vote through the app, which is available on Android and iOS. Fans can fill out one full ballot per day by selecting up to two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference when choosing starters.
- Google: Vote on Google.com or on the Google app by searching for “NBA Vote” or “NBA All-Star Vote” or for a player or team. Fans may submit votes for 10 unique players per day from Dec. 25 – Jan. 20.
- The Google Assistant: Vote via any Google Assistant-enabled device by saying, “Hey Google, vote for the NBA All-Star Game.” Fans may submit votes for up to 10 unique players per day from Dec. 25 – Jan. 20. The Google Assistant is available on laptops, phones, speakers, tablets and other connected devices .
