A celebration of his finest moments is scheduled for Feb. 21. His jersey will be hoisted to the rafters during the Heat’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Feb. 22. A documentary, showcasing his life on and off the court, will be screened at the team’s arena on Feb. 23.

Wade is set to become the fifth ex-Heat player to have his jersey retired by the team, following Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Shaquille O’Neal and Chris Bosh. It has also been previously stated by the Heat that LeBron James’ jersey will be retired in due course.

Wade had a 16-season NBA career, primarily with Miami. He contributed to the Heat’s NBA championships in 2006, 2012, and 2013, and holds the record as the team’s highest scorer in history.
