Elly De La Cruz tops the MLB this year with 45 stolen bases, followed by Brice Turang from the Brewers with 29.
The Reds and Rockies have not been elite by any metric this year. Cincinnati enters this game 5 games below 0.500 and sitting 5th in the NL Central.
The Rockies’ performance has not improved, as they currently stand at 33-60 and are also at the bottom of their division. So far this season, Colorado and Cincinnati have faced each other six times, with the Reds emerging victorious in five out of the six encounters.
Colorado’s lone win came last night, despite a late rally by the Reds that fell short in the top of the 9th inning. The Rockies will have left handed turkey tosser, Austin Gomber on the mound.
Unlike most of the Rockies’ starters, Gomber’s numbers actually get worse outside of Coors Field. He’s got a 5.44 road ERA and he’s given up 5+ hits in 9 of his L10 starts, all this season.
The Reds are set to focus on Hunter Greene for study. With a 3.45 ERA and having allowed 9 home runs this year, Greene has nonetheless shown remarkable talent in striking out his opponents.
The Rockies, who have the 4th highest strikeout rate in the league, could face another challenging game tonight with Greene pitching.
