The owners of The Blues could have garnered uncommon commendation for taking a firm stand against racism. However, they opted to endorse it instead.

Four years have passed since Les Ferdinand, former QPR director of football, announced that the club’s players would cease to take the knee in support of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.

"No one is more passionate than me about this topic," the ex-England international explained. "I have spoken on the matter throughout my footballing life. But, recently, I took the decision not to do any more interviews on racism in football because the debate was going around in circles…

“The act of taking the knee has now become more of a ‘good PR’ stunt than a meaningful gesture. The original message has been obscured. It now resembles a trendy hashtag, an appealing pin badge, or even a shiny new shirt.”
