Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson will give it a go Sunday against the Bills.
He is officially active, after a week of limited practice and receiving a questionable designation due to an elbow injury.
This divisional face-off is critical for the Jets, who are approaching a mandatory win scenario to maintain their postseason aspirations. With a current record of 4-5 and a third position in the AFC East, they have the opportunity to surpass Buffalo (5-5) for the division’s No. 2 spot, thereby advancing their standing in the overall playoff competition.
Wilson’s presence greatly increases New York’s chances of success.
The 23-year-old, who last week paced the team with nine receptions for 93 yards in a 16-12 loss to the Raiders, is also the Jets’ leading receiver in targets (95), receptions (55), receiving yards (642) and receiving touchdowns (two) on the season.
Allen Lazard is the team’s second-leading wideout with 20 catches for 290 yards and a score, and Xavier Gipson is third among Jets WRs despite just four catches for 60 yards in 2023.
If Wilson had not been there, New York would have had to depend greatly on them elevating their game.
Instead, Jets fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their primary wide receiver will be somewhere downfield.
The kick-off for the Jets and Bills game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
