Baltimore Ravens star tight end Mark Andrews‘ season might not be officially over after all.
Coach John Harbaugh expressed some optimism about Andrews’ ankle tests, suggesting that there’s a slim possibility the tight end could return later.
“Although nothing is definitively confirmed yet, my conversations with our trainer and doctors suggest that the situation isn’t as bad as we first feared post-game,” Harbaugh stated on Monday.
“…The situation isn’t as severe as initially feared. The MRI indicates it’s slightly cleaner than anticipated. In the coming days, he will be consulting with Dr. Anderson in Charlotte. While we’ll have a clearer picture then, there’s a slim chance he might return at some point. It’s too early to make a definitive statement, but there’s a flicker of optimism.”
Andrews was injured on a tackle early in the first quarter of the Ravens’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night when linebacker Logan Wilson landed on his leg. Initially, the Ravens believed the injury would wipe out the rest of Andrew’s campaign.
It would likely take a Ravens deep postseason run for Andrews to make it back on the field this season, but with Baltimore sitting at 8-3, atop the AFC North, there is at least a chance.
