Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars, Game 2 Prediction & Best Bets: How Will Dallas Respond?

Tonight, in Texas, we’re looking forward to Game 2 as the Dallas Stars aim to recover against the Edmonton Oilers. The Stars have suffered losses in three consecutive Game 1s at home during this NHL playoffs, against the Knights, the Avalanche, and now the Oilers. They managed to turn things around in Game 2 against the Avs in the previous series though. Can they level the series tonight?

Following a first period with no scores, the Oilers suddenly took a 2-0 lead just four minutes into the second period. However, the Stars retaliated quickly, with Tyler Seguin scoring a goal less than two minutes after. Seguin’s heroic efforts were witnessed again in the third period where he scored to push the game into overtime, with less than four minutes left on the clock.

The game concluded in double overtime with Connor McDavid scoring for the Oilers just 32 seconds into the additional period.

What does tonight’s game have in store for us?

Will Oilers Go Up 2-0 and Head Home?

This year in the playoffs, Leon Draisaitl has stepped up his game.

In Game 1, the Oilers managed to take 38 shots against the Stars, while allowing 33 on their own goal. Both teams collectively blocked almost 50 shots, indicating that they were aggressively firing the pucks.

What really caught my eye was the disparity in penalty minutes. The Stars had five powerplay opportunities on their home turf, while, ironically, the Oilers, who have the highest PP% in this postseason, only had a single chance throughout the game. This might change in tonight’s game, but Dallas will undoubtedly put a lot of emphasis on their defense. They will strive to once again minimize Edmonton’s powerplay opportunities.

The Stars fully understand the offensive strength the Oilers possess. Jake Oettinger is phenomenal, but he is not invincible. So, it’s crucial for the home team to assist him by blocking shots and reducing high-risk opportunities as they aim to recover. Regarding a side preference, I don’t have a strong opinion, hence my decision to place a bet on the total score of the game.

Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars Best Bets

Connor McDavid clinched the game for the Oilers in overtime.

Best Bet: EDM/DAL Under 5.5 (+113) BetOnline

Game 1 witnessed a total of 71 SOGs, but an extra period of play was also included. Dallas knows very well that it’s their defense that can lead them to victory, so their aim would be to restrict McDavid and his team. I predict tonight’s game to be thrilling yet with a low score, possibly ending with a 2-1 or 3-1 triumph. I anticipate tonight’s game to last only 60 minutes, possibly with the leading team scoring an empty netter as time runs out. However, with plus money on the line, I would definitely support the under.

This number is overwhelmingly the top choice available, and if you’re looking for a safety net, you can opt for Under 6 (-120). As for me, I will personally choose 5.5, sacrificing my safety margin for a higher potential return.
