After a week of change in the coaching staff, the Jets will be glad to enter Monday night without having to contend with uncertainty on the field as well.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been given no injury designation for the team’s Week 6 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.
Rodgers has been dealing with a low ankle sprain suffered during last week’s loss to the Vikings in London. Rodgers got rolled up on at the end of a play when multiple Minnesota players appeared to fall on him, twisting his ankle awkwardly. Though he made a quick trip to the injury tent, Rodgers was able to finish the game out.
Rodgers was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday but logged a full practice on Saturday ahead of his absence on the final injury report.
Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said Thursday that while Rodgers was dealing with both the ankle injury and a “little bit of the hamstring,” there were “no thoughts of any time he’ll miss on Monday night.” That appears to have been an accurate assessment with the week’s practices finished.
Rodgers had already entered the previous game dealing with a knee injury, though he was not given an initial injury designation before the Week 5 contest. And he was once again able to avoid a designation with this latest ankle injury.
So far this season Rodgers has accumulated 111 passes for 1,093 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Last week against the Vikings, he was 29 for 54 for 244 yards with a pair of TDs, but also three interceptions.
The Jets will be grateful to have their MVP quarterback available and on the field in a key matchup against the division-leading Bills, especially with the offense debuting a new play-caller in passing game coordinator Todd Downing.
The Jets and Bills kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday night.
