Kevin Garnett, a 6’11” forward/center and one of the most formidable two-way players in NBA history, joined the Celtics during a trade before the 2007-08 season. He was instrumental in leading Boston to its 17th World Championship, the most in NBA history, during his inaugural season with the team. This achievement earned him a place in the All-NBA First Team and the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. During his six-season tenure with the Celtics, Garnett was selected as an All-Star five times and was included in four NBA All-Defensive Teams. He played 396 games for the Celtics, averaging 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in 30.9 minutes per game.

Garnett now accompanies his teammate Paul Pierce, who had his number retired in 2017-18, in the Garden rafters. He becomes the 24th recipient of this honor within the Celtics organization.
