Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic (wrist) out for season

On Tuesday, the Utah Jazz announced that Bojan Bogdanovic, their second-leading scorer, will miss the rest of the season due to a successful surgery on his right wrist.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Monday that Bogdanovic needed surgery on his right wrist to repair an injury he suffered in January. During the season’s hiatus — which began in mid-March — Bogdanovic began to experience discomfort from the injury, Wojnarowski reported.

According to the team, Bogdanovic has a ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. They did not confirm the exact timeline of when the injury occurred in January, only stating that it happened “sometime in 2019”. They also added that this injury continued to trouble Bogdanovic throughout the 2019-20 season.

According to the Jazz, Bogdanovic will not return for any part of the 2019-20 season or playoffs, should they resume.

Not long after Bogdanovic’s injury news broke on Twitter, Donovan Mitchell, Jazz All-Star guard, tweeted: “Props to my brother [Bojan] for battling all year for us… He’s one of the toughest guys I know. Heal up and prepare for the next season.”

Salute to my brotha @44Bojan for fighting through for us all year… one of the toughest dudes I know!! Get right and ready for next season

This season, Bogdanovic had an average of 20.2 points and a 41.4% shooting rate on 3-pointers, ranking second-best in both categories on the Jazz. In the 2019 offseason, Utah underwent a significant roster overhaul, with one of the major changes being the signing of Bogdanovic on a four-year deal reportedly worth $73 million.
