Rams QB Matthew Stafford (thumb) set to start vs. Seahawks

As expected, Matthew Stafford is headed back under center for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Sean McVay, the head coach, confirmed that Stafford (thumb) will be back as the starting player in the upcoming home game for L.A. against the Seattle Seahawks. He also added that going into Week 11, the Rams are in their best health since the beginning of the season.

“Really, I haven’t observed anything different,” McVay commented on Friday, responding to a query about whether he’s seen any changes with Stafford’s performance during practice. “He’s demonstrating the exceptional talent that we know he possesses by the way he throws,” he added.

Stafford injured his thumb and exited a Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He missed Week 9 and healed up during the team’s Week 10 bye before tackling this week’s practices as a full participant each day.

On Monday, McVay announced that Stafford was slated to start and there have been no setbacks, indicating that things are proceeding as expected.

In 2022, Stafford sat out seven matches due to a concussion and a bruise on his spinal cord. This coming Sunday, he is set to equal his game participation from the previous year with his ninth start for 2023. So far, he has thrown for 2,070 yards this season with eight touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a completion rate of 59.7%.

On Sunday, at 4:25 p.m. ET, the Rams (3-6) will start their game against the visiting Seahawks.
