Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) is expected to play versus the Washington Commanders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources. Njoku is officially active for Sunday.
Njoku, who last played since Week 1, was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Friday. However, the Browns tight end did not participate in Thursday’s practice. He was officially listed as questionable for Week 5.
After missing the last three games, veteran Jordan Akins started in place of the injured Njoku. Cleveland is set to have Njoku inserted into the lineup for the first time since the season opener.
In the Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Njoku recorded four catches for 44 yards.
Cleveland ruled out running back Nick Chubb (knee), Nyheim Hines (knee), offensive tackle James Hudson, defensive end Alex Wright (triceps) and linebacker Jordan Hicks (ribs/elbow/triceps) for Sunday’s contest.
The Browns (1-3) and Commanders (3-1) kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
Other injuries we are keeping an eye on ahead of Sunday’s Week 5 games:
- Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride (ribs) is expected to play against the 49ers, Rapoport reported.
- Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral) is expected to play in Sunday’s game versus the Texans, Rapoport reported. Bernard is officially acive.
- Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (ankle) is expected to play in Sunday night’s game versus the Steelers, Rapoport reported.
- Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) is a long shot to play versus the Colts, Rapoport reported. Engram is officially inactive.
- Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby (ankle) is expected to play versus the Broncos, Rapoport reported.
- Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips suffered a partially torn ACL in Week 4’s game against the Titans, Rapoport reported. His injury will require full ACL reconstruction surgery and he has a chance to be ready for the 2025 season, Rapoport added.
- San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (ribs) and linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) are expected to play versus the Cardinals.
