MarJon Beauchamp’s strong all-around performance and key scoring contributions off the bench from Tyler Cook helped the Milwaukee Bucks overcome an early deficit and forge an 84-75 victory over the Phoenix Suns in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Saturday.
The Suns got the better of the Bucks early, jumping out to a 27-15 lead during what was a dominant first quarter. Milwaukee had lopped just two points from its double-digit deficit by halftime, but the dynamic of the game completely changed during a second half in which Phoenix was limited to just 25 points, including a 13-point third-quarter tally that was dwarfed by the Bucks’ 27-point haul.
Beauchamp paced Milwaukee with 20 points, which he complemented with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Cook followed with 14 points, adding four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Tacko Fall and Chris Livingston generated matching 10-point efforts while recording seven and six rebounds, respectively, and Fall also adding three blocks. Rookie second-round pick Andre Jackson mustered a modest six points but also tallied 11 rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Rookie second-round selection Toumani Camara led the Suns with 20 points, supplementing them with eight rebounds and one steal. Jordan Goodwin delivered 12 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Grant Sherfield furnished 11 points, six assists and one steal. Trey Jemison and Barry Brown netted 10 points each, with Jemison adding seven rebounds and two blocks among his other contributions.
The Suns return to the floor against the Miami Heat on Monday evening, while the Bucks tangle with the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday evening.
